Author Jennifer Loiske gives us 'Lucas', the second novel in the 'Immortal Blood' series. Having read and reviewed the first in series, 'Club Number Five' it is time for me to admit I do not really have a penchant for vampire stories. There, I said it. Moreover, although having admitted my predisposition, I have now to confess that Author Loiske has, through her great writing of her first novel 'Club...', and now 'Lucas', won me over. By about Chapter 19 of 'Lucas' I was really appreciating a great read. From the First Person of both antagonists and protagonists, if you can figure out whom the 'Goodies' and the 'Baddies' are, you have guessed as much through a lot of great writing. It is Five-Stars for the writing, storytelling and for persuading this reader to consider, then appreciate a different genre... I do not think it an easy accomplishment for most authors. Well done. This eBook was reviewed by G Mitchell Baker, Author of "The Involvement of Emerson" (2012), "Lethal Believers: The Innocents" (2013), and "Lethal Believers: DVM" (2013). Reviewer G Mitchell Baker purchased his copy of the "Lucas (The Immortal Series)" and receives no consideration for publishing this review, other than gladly purchasing this book for his Kindle, reading the story, and contributing a personal review. Lucas Jennifer Loiske 9781291458350 Books Reviews
"Lucas" by Jennifer Loiske is the second installment in the Immortal Blood series. Club Number 5 was a fantastic read that left off on a killer cliffhanger, and I couldn't wait to dive into this next book so I borrowed it through the Lending Library. I was so glad I did. Learning more about the characters made the first book even better (as if that was possible). I thoroughly enjoyed the journey Lucas took me on, and found myself biting my nails throughout the book. Lucas is a fascinating character and being inside of his head was mind-blowing. Loiske did an excellent job of not only character development but overall storytelling. The twists and turns kept me reading, the descriptions were just enough to not detract from the story...and then there's Lucas. The character you don't necessarily want to like, but you just can't help yourself.
"Lucas" was an amazing and exciting read. I loved it just as much as I love "Club Number Five." I read the book in one sitting; it is definitely hard to put it down once you start reading it. Lucas wants revenge for the death of his brother and in order to find out exactly how his brother was killed he needs to get into Kate, Sam, Dane and Jonathans circle. He needs someone to focus on and he chooses Sam. His sire warns him not to touch Sam but certain events happen and Lucas does the one thing his isn't supposed to do. Revenge is sweet and Lucas will stop at nothing to get it but in the process he lets his desire for Sam cloud his judgment and it ends up costing him in the end. Everyone believes the saying an eye for an eye and no one would have guessed the Jason was behind the whole thing. He had his eye on the prize and he's determined to make it his one way or another. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I look forward to see what will happen with Dane, Sam and Jason. I highly recommend this book to anyone who read and love "Club Number Five," and if you haven't read this series yet I highly suggest pick it up; you will absolutely love it.
Okay, I read "Club Number Five" and had to get some more, so I went ahead and bought "Lucas" this morning. Again, I could NOT put this book down, and devoured it in one gulp. An amazing book of a vampire doing the right thing but for all the wrong reasons interspersed with another one trying to do the right thing but doing it wrong and getting eyes-deep in trouble, all mixed in and among mysteries I can't wait to see unfold in the midst of vampiric politics. This one is a MUST READ. I loved it!

I enjoyed this book a lot. So much so that I was sad to have it end. This is a true find for vampire junkies who like books with fully developed characters, snappy dialog, and an interesting plot. I have to admit that I love dialog that does not preach to me or give me more backstory than I need. This author's dialog is true to both the characters and their roles in the story.
I read the first book in this series and loved author Jennifer Loiske’s approach to writing a vampire story. Her fresh take on this popular genre made me a fan of her writing. Because of this I continued to read the series.
Alternating points of view made this an engrossing story, drawing me into the multi-layered tale. This interesting and refreshing storyline will grab your interest and not let go until the end. Also, although this is part two of the series, this book works as a standalone.
The beginning of Lucas confused me for a while since I thought it was Sam’s thoughts, and then when I realised it was Lucas, I went back to read the end of the first book again. And then things fell beautifully into place. A great twist right in the beginning of the book that holds your attention and keeps you turning the pages.
I felt the same surge of pity for Jonathan, a bit of anger mixed with reluctant love for Dane, and then there was Sam! As brave as ever, as gullible as ever, still protecting her friend and her boys. Her character has evolved a lot and Kate feels more like how Sam was in the first book. It was wonderful meeting these characters again.
And Jennifer Loiske has left me hanging once more, with a suspense filled ending and waiting to get my hands on the next book and see how this last twist turns out. If you’re a vampire groupie like me, this is a must read and for those who haven’t been introduced to them, this is a great introduction!
